International Conference in Basic & Applied Science 2024 (ICIBS-24) held under the umbrella of ICEST-24. The International Conclave on Engineering Science and Technology-2024 (ICEST-24) commenced with a grand inauguration ceremony at P. A. College of Engineering, Mangalore, featuring six conferences covering various engineering disciplines, on April 23, at P.A College of Engineering Campus. Among these, the International Conference in Basic & Applied Science 2024 (ICIBS-24) was held under the umbrella of ICEST-24, representing the Basic Science Department. ICEST-24 comprised six conferences covering different engineering disciplines, namely MECH-TECH, IC-ICE, DIGITREV-24, SEMI-COMM TECH SUMMIT, BIOTRENDCON, and ICIBS. The inaugural event commenced with an Invocation by Abdul Abdu Samad, followed by a welcoming speech by Dr. Shareefraju J. Ukkund, the Convener of ICEST-24, and a preamble address by Dr. Sharmila Kumari, emphasizing the significance of the research environment. The Chief Guest, Mr. Sohan M., Senior Manager at Infosys, Mangalore, highlighted the importance of multidisciplinary approaches. Dr. P. Nagabhushan, VC of Vignan University, AP, delivered the keynote address focusing on the 5As in engineering and the convergence of various engineering disciplines through ICEST. Conference proceedings were released, with addresses from distinguished guests including Managing Trustee Mr. Abdullah Ibrahim, who emphasized the commitment of PACE Group to research. Dr. Ramis M. K., General Chair of ICEST-24 and Principal of PACE, also delivered presidential remarks. The program included faculty, students, and delegates from various institutions, concluding with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Krishna Prasad N., Chair of BIOTRENDCON and HOD of the Biotechnology Department.
Keynote Speaker Day-1:
On April 23rd after the inauguration, Dr. Chandra Shekhara Shetty T., Associate Professor from the Department of P.G. Studies in Physics at St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangalore, graced the event as the keynote speaker. He was introduced by Prof. Shreenidhi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics. Dr. Shetty delivered an insightful keynote address on the Elastic Properties of Liquid, focusing particularly on liquid crystals and their practical applications. After the keynote address, external participants and research scholars from various institutions presented their research findings in track 1 (Physics). The sessions providing attendees with opportunities to connect, exchange ideas, and prepare for upcoming presentations. Attendees actively engaged with the shared insights, fostering a dynamic atmosphere of collaboration and knowledge exchange. The event is well coordinated by Dr. Supriya Bangera, Convener ICIBS, Prof. Ismail s, Prof. Razeena Begam, and Prof. Sumangala Rao.
Keynote speaker day-2:
On Day 2 of the conference, April 24th, 2024, participants from various institutions presented their papers in Track 2 (Chemistry). The day commenced with a captivating series of oral presentations featuring research from participants at the PhD, Masters, and undergraduate levels. Attendees delved into a diverse range of innovative projects and scholarly endeavors, spanning from advanced doctoral research to insightful undergraduate studies. Throughout the sessions, lively discussions and knowledge sharing took place among peers, interspersed with refreshing breaks. The event served as a vibrant platform for fostering intellectual exchange and collaboration within the chemistry community as participants showcased their findings. Following these presentations, Dr. B. K. Sarojini, Professor,Industrial Chemistry from Mangalore University, Mangalagangotri, Mangalore, took the stage. The introduction of Dr. Sarojini was graciously provided by Prof. Sumangala Rao, Assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics. Dr. Sarojini delivered an insightful talk on "Organic Display Materials," delving into the utilization of organic compounds in liquid crystals and their wide-ranging applications. Her expertise illuminated a progressively significant and pioneering domain within the field of Chemistry. The smooth organization and coordination of the days events were overseen by Dr. Supriya Bangera, the Convener of ICIBS, with valuable support from Prof. Ismail S, Prof. Razeena, and Prof. Sumangala Rao, highlighting the collaborative effort behind the success of the conference.

The curtains have closed on the International Conference in Basic & Applied Science (ICIBS 24) as a part of ICEST 24 with a resounding success, marking the end of two days filled with innovation, collaboration, and scholarly exchange. The Valedictory Ceremony held at P. A. College of Engineering, Mangalore, witnessed eminent personalities from the academic and industrial sectors grace the occasion and share their insights on the future of engineering and technology. The ceremony commenced with a warm Welcome Speech by Dr. Palakshappa, highlighting the significance of ICEST 24 in fostering interdisciplinary research and global partnerships. Dr. Palakshappa extended his gratitude to all participants and organizers for their tireless efforts in making the event a triumph. Dr. Prashanth Pai, the General Co-chair of ICEST 24, presented a comprehensive report summarizing the key highlights and achievements of the conclave. He emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing contemporary challenges and advancing technological frontiers.
The audience was then privileged to hear from Mr. Zubair Ibrahim, Trustee of P. A. College of Engineering, who underscored the institutions commitment to nurturing talent and fostering innovation. His address resonated with the theme of ICEST 24, emphasizing the role of education in driving societal progress. Dr. A. M. Khan, Senior Professor at the Department of Electronics and Director of the Skill Development Centre, Mangalore University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest Dr. A. M. Khan provided valuable insights into the post-COVID phase and the progress of research. He discussed the emerging trends in AI, including big data analytics, generative AI, and adaptive AI, which are rapidly advancing and outpacing the rest of the world. He also encouraged engineering students to align their education with research aspects, stating, "Learn engineering with a focus on research for a brighter future." The Valedictory Address was delivered by Dr. Surendra Kumar, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Presidency University, Bangalore. Dr. Kumar shared his insights on the future directions of engineering education and research, urging participants to embrace innovation and entrepreneurship. The ceremony also featured addresses by esteemed guests including Dr. Abdul Sharief, Dean of Presidency University, Bangalore; Mr. Ahmed Kutty, Director of Finance at P. A. College of Engineering, Mangalore; Dr. Surfraz J. Hasim, Principal of P. A. First Grade College, Mangalore; and Dr. Sajeesh Regunathan, Principal of P. A. Institute of Physiotherapy, Mangalore, Dr. Shivakumar Gowda, SDMCET, Dharwad; Each speaker reiterated the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing the frontiers of engineering and technology. ICIBS Coordinator Dr. Supriya Bangera and ICIBS chair Prof. Ismail Shaffi distributed certificates to the participants, acknowledging their contributions and participation in ICIBS-24. Certificates also being distributed to convenors and chairs of various departments.
