The Department of Civil Engineering, in association with the Institution of Engineers (I) Students Chapter and FORCE (Fraternity of Rising Civil Engineers), organised an invited talk(webinar) on "Study Overseas"-Career Guidance for Higher Studies, on 19th April, 2023. The resource person for the event was Mr. Sharwin Farnades from MS State University, New York, Baffalo. Dr. Palakshappa K., Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering, welcomed the gathering, briefed about the scope and importance of higher studies, and introduced the speaker of the day.

Mr. Sharwin Farnades emphasised the importance of pursuing higher studies overseas. In the talk, he elaborated on the steps to pursue higher studies, especially in the USA. He also imparted the detailed procedures involved in studying abroad, the cost involved in studying abroad, in particular in the USA, and the job opportunities and monetary benefits to be gained after the higher studies by quoting the example of a Chinese bamboo tree.

Ms. Absana, a final-year student of the Civil Engineering Department, rendered the vote of thanks. All the students and faculty members of Civil Engineering attended the programme.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Praveen Suvarna, in charge of the Institution of Engineers (I) student chapter, and Prof. Chethan K., Coordinator of FORCE.
