Report of the workshop on Outcome based Education

The PA College of Engineering organized 3 days workshop on “OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION” on October 16th, 17th and 18th 2021 under CPOD, the center for professional and organizational development. The main focus of the workshop was to enlighten the staff on the challenges of NEP, the New Education Policy and the process of NBA accreditation.The resource persons were Dr. M.M. Sufyan Beg from the department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dr. Ekram Khan from the department of Electronics and Communication,Dr. Saiful Islam from the department of Mechanical Engineering and Prof. Arshad Hussain Khan from the department of Biotechnology. The eminent speakers were from the prestigious Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. In the first session on Friday 16th , the speakers highlighted the importance of Accreditation process in the context of engineering, the significance of Washington Accord, the design and assessment of the outcome based education. During the second session on day two, the emphasis was given to the articulation of vision, mission process, the importance of minutes of the meeting in defining and relating course outcomes, program outcomes and PEOs and the tools required to obtain the attainment of COs. POs, PEOs and the importance of Bloom’s Taxonomy Level in building course outcomes. They also stressed upon the building blocks of all the stake holders of the OBE such as course wise feedback, course exit feedback, alumni feedback, industrial feedback as and when required. They encouraged the institution to cope up with the new education policy so that the standards of engineering education can be uplifted. They also raised concerns on the falling trends of engineering admissions and the necessity to arrest it by raising the standards through different accreditation processes. On the third day of the workshop, a mock visit was conducted by the resource persons to assess the present status of the NBA accreditation process in the institution. Dr. Ramis M. K. Principal, welcomed the dignitaries and the participants and deliberated the significance of the workshop in view of the upcoming NBA visit. Dr. Sharmila Kumari, Vice Principal proposed the vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts done by the organizing team and management in the conduction of the workshop. Prof. Chandana, department of Electronics and Communication compered the program. All the faculty and non teaching staff were the participants.
