Webinar Week 2020 Organised in pandemic situation by Civil Engineering Deparment, PACE, Mangaluru, conducted a webinar on the topic Low Cost House Techniques and Materials by our in-house faculty Prof. Vivek N Mayya, Asst. Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, PACE, Mangaluru on 03/07/2020.
Low cost housing construction is possible with the use of low cost building materials and planning. For any nation whether developed or developing this is mandatory for them to make their rural areas a major priority for concern. Prosperity of nation lies in the fact that their rural and backward areas are developed enough to fulfill the necessities of the residents living there. There is a myth in minds of many people; they think that whenever construction is accompanied with low cost ,the material used will always be of a low-grade quality. It depends on the intellect of the builder or civil engineer you are working with. He should have the ample amount of knowledge to take such decision which will cut the cost of whole project.
Prof.Vivek N Mayya discussed regarding low cost housing which mainly included stabilized mud blocks, manufacturing process, strength comparison and cost analysis .He also shared the significance of low cost housing in the current scenario. He is an active YouTube blogger who does consultancy in the same field, so he kept the audience entertained with his own low cost house construction experiences. The topics covered during the presentation were very interesting and simple which pinned up the audience for an hour. Prof.Jasim P P, Asst. Prof. Civil Engineering PACE was the host and coordinator of the webinar and he delivered the welcome speech ,introduced the resource person and briefed the importance of the topic. At the end of the session the questions raised by the participants were answered appropriately by the speaker. Mr.Mohammed Yoonus student of final year rendered vote of thanks.
