Industrial visit to Surathkal Nirmiti Kendra and Ultratech RMC plant Mangalore

A one day industrial visit was made by students of 4 th semester, accompanied by three faculty members of department of civil engineering, PACE on 13 th march 2019 to Nirmiti Kendra located in Suratkal and Ultratech RMC plant at Bykampady. The guiding staffs at Nirmiti Kendra were Er. Navith B K and Er. Ganesh G at RMC plant

1. Awareness on Cost Effective Building Materials and Technologies
2. Efficiency of the Cost Effective Technologies in different buildings like, Tourist Cottage, Office buildings, Hostels, residences etc.
3. Consultancy service on Cost Effective Eco-friendly, Alternative Building Technologies as these technologies are not vernacular technologies as everyone is aware off.
4. Masonry arches instead of beams
5. Filler slab, Ferro cement construction and Exposed laterite masonry.
6. Manufacturing processes and other Technical exposure of Concrete Technology
7. Manufacturing Processes and other Engineering aspects of Concrete Technology.
8. Students have learnt Process of making concrete, Material used in making of concrete.

Sound technical explanation was given by Er. Ganesh G, Plant Head operator, Ultratech cement limited, on concrete mix plant capacity, testing unit of concrete, compressive strength of concrete, and curing tank for curing of concrete, transit mixer, material used in concrete, design parameters, etc

With positive feedbacks from Students on gained practical knowledge from all experts on site, programme was worthwhile and successfully completed.
