Conclusion of the Fungicidal biofertilizer production, use and evaluation programme

Final implementation of the Fungicidal biofertilizer production and implementation programme was done on 19th November 2019. To reduce the use of inorganic fertilizer and fungicides that are detrimental to the environment, human health and aquatic organisms, techniques of producing environmental friendly fungicidal biofertilizer was developed in the Department of Biotechnology, P. A. College of Engineering, Mangalore. Useful fungus such as Tichoderma viride with antagonistic affect on pathogens such Phytophthora capsici were used during the solid state degradation of locally available agro-waste. Third semester students of department of biotechnology developed, implemented and evaluated the effect of biofungicide fertilizers by using it in 65 newly planted saplings. There is a great scope for farmers to adopt this eco-friendly integrated plant disease and soil management technique developed at P. A. College of Engineering, Mangalore.
