CHETHANA-2019 sponsored by Samsung, Infosys and K-Tech at Infosys Campus from 3rd June 2019 to 10th June 2019, PACE- Dr. Krishna Prasad, District Innovation Associate, NAIN incubation Centre at Mangalore, Coordinated welcome committee during these period. The fourth edition of ‘Chetana’, the girl empowerment skilling programme, which was launched by the Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka in 2016, was inaugurated on 5th June 2019, at the Infosys Campus, Mangalore. Through this program, the Government of Karnataka’s Department of IT, BT and S&T equips SSLC Toppers from Government High Schools across Karnataka with awareness, orientation and exposure to Technology and Entrepreneurship. Every year, 500 SSLC toppers from across the State are selected for a week long residential camp in Infosys Campus to empower them with soft skills, technology interface and overall personality development.
Experts from across industry and technology verticals train these girls in various aspects of career counseling and technology. The ‘Chetana’ initiative is driven by the Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS) in association with Samsung and Infosys. Various activities are planned during the course of this camp like training sessions to use the tab, exposure to state-of-the-art facility at Infosys and other industry campuses in Mangaluru. Activities include team building exercises, design thinking workshops, interaction session with leaders from various domains like science, technology, arts, medicine, etc.
