ASCII: Association of Computer Science Innovative

Computer Science Engineering, P.A.College of Engineering Mangalore, inaugurated
the CSE forum, ASCII: Association of Computer Science Innovative Intellectuals
which was held at 9:30am on 5th Oct 2018.The main motto of the association is
to create a space to CSE students to showcase their talents in technical and
non technical events. The function was presided by the Principal Dr. Abdul
Sharief. The other dignitaries on the dias were the Resource person for the
Program Dr. Mohit Tahiliani, Assistant
Professor, NITK, Surathkal. Dr. Latha Krishnan, Director MBA, Dr. Sharmila
Kumari, Head of CSE Dept., and staff coordinators Prof. Hafeez and Prof.Ganesh
Pai. The key-note speaker Dr. Mohit Tahiliani delivered an Invited Talk on "Open Source: Fostering the Next
generation Product Development", where he explained how open source boosts
the overall quality of the upcoming product development.
The welcome speech given by Nikhil Amin, the President of
ASCII. Ms.Nishmitha Uchil, the Secretary of ASCII gave a brief introduction
about the Chief Guest & Key Speaker Dr. Mohit Tahiliani. Deeksha Alva
concluded the inauguration ceremony with the Vote of Thanks. Ms. Aditi Naik.,
the Vice President of ASCII was the Master of Ceremony.
Dr. Mohit Tahiliani also spoke about his experience as a
mentor in GSoC (Google Summer of Code) and about the opportunities the Students
& Faculty members have being a mentor and
participant in the GSoC internship program. He also acknowledged the
students about special platforms provided for women called Rails Girls Summer
of Code (RGoC). Live demonstration of GitHub was a valuable addition to his
session. He also stressed that Coding is not an Easy Piece of Cake; but
requires Curious Minds backed by Strenuous Efforts to wipe out Fear of Coding
and reach the Dreamed destiny. He also conveyed that Knowledge is the ultimate
power, which makes you stand Unique in Crowd, with Tier 1 Companies Knocking at
your college doorsteps. He stressed on the two statements "Fail Fail but
never give up learning" & "Whatever you achieve with Extreme
Hardship, make every next person in the society reach the same easier than you
did". He also urged students and faculty members to contribute to the
society by sharing their knowledge and efforts to build a Better Tomorrow.
