Glug PACE, Department of Computer Science conducted IGNITE 2k19 which was held at 2:15 PM on 5th OCT 2018 specifically targeted at 2nd year students to enlighten them about FOSS (Free and Open Source Software). The function was presided by HOD of CSE Dept. Dr. Sharmila Kumari, Prof. Hafeez and Prof. Namratha. Resource person for the event was Mr. Manikanta A Nayar who is the Chief Executive Officer at Finetech Soft Solutions and alumni of PACE. Shivanandan Muloor who had initiated GLUG in Electronics and Communication department was also present for the event.
The event started with a brief introduction to free and open source software by Mr.Manikanta. He explained about the importance of open source software development in the current generation which was followed by a feedback of the previous workshops conducted on Laravel and PHP under GLUG, given by the participant Ms.Shahana Ankalgi, third year CSE Student. The current president of GLUG pace, Sheikh Mohammed Adil introduced the website developed by himself from scratch. There was also an interesting session of Group Discussion where the 2nd year students had to identify a common day to day problem of the society and also come out with a feasible solution to overcome it. The event was concluded by introducing the core members of ASCII. Ms. Aditi Naik, was the Master of Ceremony.
