Invited Talk on Mental Health at Work

On November 15, 2024, Universal Human Value Cell in Collaboration with Women in Engineering, Woman Welfare Committee and College Internal Compliance Committee, P. A. College of Engineering (PACE) organized an insightful talk titled "Mental Health at Work," presented by Dr. Surfraz J. Hasim, a distinguished academician, mind trainer, psychologist, motivational speaker, success coach, hypnotherapist, panic healer, and Healing consultant. Dr. Hasim currently serves as the Principal of PA First Grade College in Mangaluru, Karnataka, and has previously held the position of Director (Academics) at P. A. Educational Trust Institutions.
The session began with a prayer followed by a welcome speech by Prof. Shainy Mathew, the College Internal Compliance Committee Coordinator, who expressed the importance of mental well-being in a professional setting. Dr. Ramis MK, Principal of P. A. College of Engineering, delivered the presidential remarks, emphasizing the relevance of mental health awareness for students entering the workforce. He also presented a memento to Dr. Hasim as a token of appreciation. Following this, Dr. Sharmila Kamari, Vice Principal of PACE, addressed the attendees, providing an encouraging introduction to the topic.
Dr. Hasim captivated the students with an engaging session filled with various mental techniques to improve concentration and productivity. He introduced mental "hacks" aimed at better focus and stress management, which were highly interactive and resonated with the students. Additionally, Dr. Hasim conducted a hypnotherapy demonstration, illustrating the benefits of this therapeutic approach for relaxation and emotional balance.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Laila Jaseela A, Coordinator of the Universal Human Value Committee at PACE, acknowledging Dr. Hasim’s valuable insights and the participation of the attendees. Prof. Shabeeba V served as the MC for the event, ensuring smooth transitions and a well-coordinated program. The session was both inspiring and informative, providing students with practical tools to enhance mental resilience in their future professional endeavours.
