Aug 31, 2024 - Aug 31, 2024

The Department of Computer Science Engineering (IoT and Cyber Security including Blockchain Technology) organized a one-day workshop titled "A Deep Dive into Operating Systems and Linux" on 31st August 2024, from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The workshop aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of operating system fundamentals, with a special focus on Linux. Conducted by Mohammed Nouman, a Software Engineer at Uncourt Inc., the session leveraged his extensive experience to deliver an enriching learning experience.
The workshop was structured into two main sessions. From morning until 12:45 PM, Mohammed Nouman delivered an in-depth exploration of operating system concepts, where participants gained valuable theoretical knowledge on the core principles of operating systems. After a lunch break, the afternoon session from 1:45 to 4:30 PM focused on a hands-on experience with Linux, where participants learned to install and configure various operating systems. This practical approach allowed students to apply the concepts discussed earlier, enhancing their technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and practical understanding of OS environments.
Dr. Shamna N V, Head of the Department, spoke on the significance of academic workshops and the active involvement of students in such events, highlighting their role in fostering both academic and personal growth. The event was coordinated by Prof. Afeefa Nazneen N. Z., along with student coordinators Muhammed Zayan Sameer, Vineeth S N, Kameel M Ali, and Jishnu Jp, who managed various aspects of the workshop. Fathimath Huda and Nafisa Samah served as the Masters of Ceremony, ensuring the event ran smoothly.
Following the workshop, a prize distribution ceremony recognized the winners of the Student Club Logo and Name Competition. The principal Dr Ramis M K felicitated the winners, celebrating their creativity and contribution to the student community. The ceremony was further honored by the presence of IQAC coordinators Dr. Zoheb and Mr. Vinil S. Babu, who congratulated the winners. The competition saw the team of Ameen Hasaine Saheb and Harshith R Shetty winning the first prize, while the second prize was awarded to the team of Amna Fathima L and Rawana K M.
Overall, the OS Workshop and the accompanying prize distribution event were a great success, combining valuable learning opportunities with celebration. The department looks forward to organizing more such events to promote continuous learning, innovation, and growth among students.
