Department of Civil Engineering in association with The Institution of Engineers (I) Students Chapter and FORCE (Fraternity of Rising Civil Engineers) organised an invited talk on “Modern Software Tools and its Applications in the Field of Civil Engineering” on 23rd July, 2024. The resource person for the event was Mr. Jackson Jebadurai P, Director of CADD Techlabs Training Services, Mangaluru.  Dr. Palakshappa K., Professor and Head, the Department of Civil Engineering welcomed the gathering, briefed about the importance of software in civil engineering, and introduced the speaker of the day. Dr. Praveen Suvarna, in charge of the Institution of Engineers (I) student chapter was the coordinator for the event.

Mr. Jackson Jebadurai highlighted the critical role of software learning for civil engineers, noting its impact on enhancing design, analysis, and project management efficiency. Tools like AutoCAD and Revit provide precise drafting and modeling capabilities, while SAP2000 and ETABS are essential for structural analysis. GIS applications offer valuable insights for infrastructure planning. Additionally, software like Primavera and MS Project improves scheduling and resource management. By mastering these technologies, civil engineers can address complex challenges, streamline workflows, and drive innovation, leading to more sustainable and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Mr . Mohammed Ashraf, a pre-final-year student of the Civil Engineering Department rendered the vote of thanks. All the students and faculty members of Civil Engineering have attended the program.
