TECHNICAL TALK ON BIOMIMETICS
The Civil Engineering Department of P. A College of Engineering, in association with the Institution of Engineers India (IEI) and IEEE Engineering in Medical and Biology Society organized a technical talk on “Biomimetics : A Lesson to be learnt” on 3rd May, 2024. Dr. Sanjith S Anchan, Assistant Professor, NIE, Mysore was the resource person.
Dr. Sanjith S Anchan narrated that Biomimetics, or biomimicry, is a field that draws inspiration from nature to solve human problems. It encompasses various disciplines, from engineering to materials science and medicine. Recent discussions highlight its potential for creating sustainable technologies, improving design efficiency, and advancing medical treatments. Researchers are increasingly exploring how natures designs can inform innovation, leading to groundbreaking developments in fields such as robotics, architecture, and renewable energy. Dr. Palakshappa K., Professor and HOD, Civil Engineering, remarked, “Nature is the Best Teacher” and highlighted the importance and significance of nature and biology. He also emphasized how biomimetic can be adopted in all facets of life, engineering, medicine, biology, etc., for sustainable development. All the students and staff members participated in the programme.
