International Conference in Mechanical Engineering 2024 (Mech-Tech-24) under the umbrella of ICEST-24

The International Conclave on Engineering Science and Technology-2024 (ICEST-24) commenced with a grand inauguration ceremony at P. A. College of Engineering, Mangalore, featuring six conferences covering various engineering disciplines, on April 23, at P. A. College of Engineering Campus. Among these, the International Conference on emerging trends in Mechanical Engineering (Mech-Tech-24) represented the Mechanical Engineering Department. The other Engineering disciplines covered under ICEST-24 were IC-ICE, DIGITREV-24, SEMI-COMM TECH SUMMIT, BIOTRENDCON, and ICIBS. The inaugural event commenced with an Invocation by Abdul Abdu Samad, followed by a welcoming speech by Dr. Shareefraju J. Ukkund, the Convener of ICEST-24, and a preamble address by Dr. Sharmila Kumari, emphasizing the significance of the research environment. The Chief Guest, Mr. Sohan M., Senior Manager at Infosys, Mangalore, highlighted the importance of multidisciplinary approaches. Dr. P. Nagabhushan, VC of Vignan University, AP, delivered the keynote address focusing on the 5As in engineering and the convergence of various engineering disciplines through ICEST. Conference proceedings were released, with addresses from distinguished guests including Managing Trustee Mr. Abdullah Ibrahim, who emphasized the commitment of PACE Group to research. Dr. Ramis M. K., General Chair of ICEST-24 and Principal of PACE, also delivered presidential remarks. The program included faculty, students, and delegates from various institutions, concluding with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Krishna Prasad N., Chair of BIOTRENDCON and HOD of the Biotechnology Department.

Keynote Speaker - Day 1
During the inaugural day of MECT TECH, Dr. P.S. Shivakumar Gouda, an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SDM College of Engineering & Technology, Visvesvaraya Technological University, Dharwad, delivered the keynote address. His presentation, titled “Interlaminar Fracture Toughness in FRP Composite Laminates -Future Scope and Applications," provided a comprehensive exploration of the current state of knowledge, potential future directions, and practical significance of interlaminar fracture toughness research in the context of FRP composite materials. It aims to advance understanding, foster innovation, and promote the application of these materials in various industries.

Oral Presentation - Day 1
After the lunch break, attendees including external participants, research scholars, and final year students enthusiastically presented their research findings during the designated track 1-3 sessions, which ran until 4:30 PM. These sessions were interspersed with breaks for refreshments, allowing participants to network, share ideas, and prepare for upcoming presentations. Throughout the afternoon, the wide range of presentations demonstrated the extensive research efforts across different fields within Mechanical Engineering. Attendees eagerly absorbed the insights shared, contributing to a vibrant atmosphere of collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Oral Presentation - Day 2
The second day began with a series of captivating oral presentations delivered by participants, covering research conducted at the PhD, Masters, and undergraduate levels. Attendees were able to explore a wide range of innovative projects and scholarly endeavours, spanning from advanced doctoral research to insightful undergraduate studies. These presentations, punctuated by refreshing breaks, encouraged lively discussions and the sharing of knowledge among peers. As participants presented their findings, the event continued to act as a platform for fostering intellectual exchange and collaboration within the Mechanical community. 

Keynote Speaker - Day 2
Building on the energy of Day 2 at MECH TECH, Dr. Madeva Nagaral, Manager (Design) Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bangalore, graced the occasion as the Keynote Speaker. Dr. Nagaral delivered an enlightening presentation on "Importance of Industry 4.0 in an aerospace domain." In his address, he illuminated the transformative impact of Industry 4.0 technologies on aerospace operations, highlighting their potential to revolutionize manufacturing processes, enhance efficiency, and drive innovation in the industry. Furthermore, he underscored the critical role of digitalization, automation, and data analytics in optimizing aircraft design, production, and maintenance. Dr. Nagarals insights resonated deeply with participants, igniting stimulating discussions and prompting reflections on the vital convergence of technology and aerospace engineering.

MECH TECH concluded with the Valedictory Program on April 24th, at noon, featuring notable addresses by various dignitaries. Dr. Palakshappa, Chair of IC-ICE, delivered the Welcome Speech, while Dr. Prashanth Pai, Co-Chair of ICEST 24, presented a comprehensive report highlighting the events key moments. Mr. Zubair Ibrahim, GC Member & Trustee of P. A Educational Trust (PAET), emphasized the institutions dedication to innovation. Chief Guest Dr. A. M. Khan, Director of the Skill Development Centre at Mangalore University, discussed post-COVID trends in AI and advocated for research-focused education. Dr. Surendra Kumar, Pro VC of Presidency University, provided insights into the future of engineering education and entrepreneurship. The ceremony also featured addresses by esteemed guests of honor, including Mr. Ahmed Kutty, Director of Finance at P. A. College of Engineering, Mangalore; Dr. Surfraz J. Hasim, Principal of P. A. First Grade College, Mangalore; and Dr. Sajeesh Regunathan, Principal of P. A. Institute of Physiotherapy, Mangalore. Dr. Shivakumar Gowda from SDMCET, Dharwad, also contributed to the event. Dr. Ramis M K delivered the Presidential Remarks, and Dr. Sharmila Kumari extended gratitude to all contributors. Additionally, certificates were distributed to Chairs, Convenors, Participants, and organizers, recognizing their valuable contributions to the successful ICEST 24 conclave.
