The Institution of Engineers (IEI), Mechanical Engineering Association (MEA), Civil Engineering Department Forum (FORCE), First-Year Engineering Students Association (FESA), Environment Cell of P. A. College of Engineering (PACE), Mangaluru, celebrated World Water Day on March 22, 2024, by organizing an invited talk on the theme ‘Water for Peace’. The talk was held in the Multipurpose Hall of PACE. The resource person for the event was Dr. Palakshappa K., Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering. Dr. Ramis M. K., Principal, PACE, highlighted in his speech the significance and importance of water. Dr. Prashanth Pai M, HOD, Mechanical Engineering, spoke on how water is abused, how to prevent wastage of water and how each can contribute to saving this precious resource. Dr. Sharmila Kumari M., Vice Principal, graced the occasion. Dr. Palalaskappa K, the resource person, narrated the significance of World Water Day, the occurrence and distribution of water, the use of water for different purposes, the causes of water scarcity, and highlighted the theme ‘Leveraging Water for Peace’. He also suggested how everyone and the community can participate in saving water and how technology can be used to resolve the issues of water scarcity and build prosperity and peace in society. The staff and students of Civil, Mechanical and First Year departments and the members of IEI and Environment cell have participated in the programme. Prof. Chethan K (CV) coordinated the event. Mr. Shared Kaiseerin welcomed the gathering and Ms. Chaitanya proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Aleena Mariyam was the master of ceremony.
