MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS VISITED KIOCL, PANAMBUR, MANGALORE
Department of Mechanical Engineering arranged an industrial visit to KIOCL, Panambur, Mangalore, for 2nd year and 3rd year students on 14-02-2024. KIOCL has been a pioneer with over four decades of experience in operating Iron Ore Mining, Beneficiation and Iron–Oxide Pelletisation in the Country. KIOCL is having facilities to operate 3.5 MTPA Iron-oxide Pellet Plant, Blast Furnace Unit to manufacture 2.16 lakh tonnes per annum Pig iron at Mangaluru, Karnataka. KIOCL is producing both BF and DR grade pellets with excellent chemical & physical specifications to suite for Blast furnaces and direct reduction plants. The Company handles both Magnetite and Hematite types of ores through in-house R&D, sourcing from both domestic and global markets, Utilizes coastal transportation and Indigenization of equipments/spares etc. The students visited pellet plant, captive power plant at pellet plant, blast furnace unit and studied their construction and operation. The students were accompanied by Dr. Mohammed Salman Warimani, Prof. Kiran Kumar B and Mr. Abdul Haseed Malemar. The department expressed heartfelt thanks to the Management and Officials of KIOCL for providing an opportunity for knowledge sharing and experiential leaning.
