The activities of the Mechanical Engineering Association for the AY 2023-24 were officially inaugurated on 4th Jan 2024 at 10am in the E-learning centre. Mr. Aashith C, Managing Director, Aaradraa Robotics Pvt. Ltd. and Design Engineer, Yenepoya Technology Incubator, Mangalore, was the chief guest for the inauguration.  Dr. Maruthi Prashanth B H welcomed the gathering. HOD Dr. Prashanth Pai M introduced the chief guest to the gathering. The chief guest inaugurated the MEA activities and also delivered a technical talk on ‘Modern Trends in Mechanical Design and Manufacturing’. He highlighted various tools of mechanical design and analysis, modern manufacturing techniques involving 3D Printing, Robotics, etc. He also pointed out the emerging areas of employment in mechanical engineering sector. In his presidential address Principal Dr. Ramis M K highlighted the opportunities for the mechanical engineers, the thrust areas, and need of upskilling to grab these opportunities. Vice Principal Dr. Sharmila Kumari M addressed the gathering. Faculty members, technical and supporting staff and mech. engg, students were present during the program. The academic toppers of 2022-23, winners of the QuizQuest-23, Pencil Drawing competition and Internship based project exhibition were facilitated during the program. Mr. Muhammed Seyyed Ansar was felicitated for being selected to represent VTU in the All India Inter-University Football Tournament (2023-24) and also for claiming the title of Highest Goal Scorer during the VTU state level intercollegiate football tournament 2023. The department magazine ‘PACE Mechazine’ for 2022-23 was also released by the chief guest during the event. The MEA President, Mr. Muhammed Nihal introduced the office bearers of the MEA and associated clubs. The upgraded research lab of the department with new additions was also inaugurated by the chief guest. Mr. Mohammed Saud was the master of ceremony. Prof. Navaneeth I M proposed the vote of thanks. Final year mech. engg. students honored Prof. C V Pujar for his contributions to the environment cell.
