INDUSTRY PROFILE:-
Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM, formerly known as Technopark TBI) is the central agency of the Government of Kerala for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities in Kerala, India. KSUM was primarily founded to undertake the planning, establishment, and management of the technology business incubator (TBI), a startup accelerator in Kerala, to promote technology-based entrepreneurship activities, and to create the infrastructure and environment required to support high-technology-based businesses.
Additional goals of KSUM include:
coordinating the functions of other incubators in the state
strengthening the entrepreneurship development activities of the state government
promoting knowledge-driven and technology-based startup ventures by students, faculties, and local entrepreneurs
planning and implementing linkages with industry and networking activities setting up Research and Development facilities
encouraging the formation of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cells (IEDCs) and technoparks in academic institutions, and capacity-building programmes for human resources.

AIM OF THE INDUSTRIAL VISIT:-
• Provide students with insights into entrepreneurship and KSUMs role in fostering innovation.
• Create a motivational environment to encourage students to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career option.
• Showcase diverse ongoing projects at KSUM to inspire and broaden students technological and innovative perspectives.
• Facilitate direct interaction with startup experts for guidance on refining project ideas and understanding the startup ecosystem.
• Encourage students to establish connections within the startup ecosystem for future collaborations and opportunities.

Ground report:-
According to the route and time plan bus was departed and reached gate of Kerala Startup Mission.
KSUM plays a pivotal role in aiding students to transform their projects into viable startups. The agency
focuses on nurturing entrepreneurial talent, providing financial support, and facilitating the transition
from projects to sustainable businesses.

Facility Tour:
During the visit, students were given a comprehensive tour of various labs, including the electronic lab,
printing machine lab, CEEMS lab and assembly line lab for PCB (Printed Circuit Board) production. The
experts at KSUM elaborated on the intricacies of PCB designing and demonstrated the processes involved
in the electronic product development lifecycle.

Projects Showcase:
The tour included a showcase of ongoing projects, offering students a glimpse into the diverse range of
endeavors at KSUM. One notable project highlighted the product made out of process of mold creation,
while another focused on PCB design. The team also presented a healthcare project featuring a dripping
level indicator.

Interaction with Startup Experts:
An integral part of the visit was the opportunity for students to engage with startup experts. They had the
chance to discuss their project ideas, seek guidance, and gain insights into the practical aspects of turning
concepts into successful startups. The experts emphasized the importance of innovation, scalability, and
market relevance.

Guidance for Future Ventures:
The experts encouraged students to consider internships at KSUM, providing a platform to further
develop their skills and refine their project ideas. The agency emphasized the need for students to actively
engage in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and contribute meaningfully to the startup culture.
The industrial visit to Kerala Startup Machine, Kochi, proved to be an enriching experience for all
participants. It not only showcased the cutting-edge facilities and projects at KSUM but also provided
valuable interactions with startup experts. The encouragement for internships and the offer of guidance
for future ventures underscored KSUMs commitment to nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit among
students. This visit has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on the students, inspiring them to explore the
exciting world of startups and innovation.
