AICTE-ATAL SPONSORED 6 DAYS FDP ON "MACHINE LEARNING APPROACHES TO SECURED MULTIMODAL BIOMETRIC SYSTEMS” INAUGURATED AT PACE

The Inaugural Ceremony of the AICTE-ATAL, 6 days Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "Machine Learning Approaches to Secured Multimodal Biometrics Systems." was held with great enthusiasm and anticipation at P. A College of Engineering on 11th December 2023. The chief guest for the function was Prof. P. Nagabushan, Vice Chancellor, Vignans Foundation for Science, Technology & Research, Andhra Pradesh and the former director of IIIT, Hyderabad. The event marked the commencement of a knowledge-rich initiative aimed at empowering educators with cutting-edge insights into the field of machine learning applied to secured multimodal biometrics. Dr. Palakskappa, HOD, Department of Civil Engineering, extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries.
Dr. Sharmila Kumari, Vice Principal, P. A. College of Engineering and Coordinator of the FDP provided a comprehensive preamble to the FDP, giving the audience an overview of AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) & National Education Policy with the common objectives of improving the quality standards of teaching. Dr. Sharmila further briefed on the crucial role of Machine learning integration with multimodal biometrics to enhance system security and convenience and provided an overall view of the six-day FDP. Symbolizing growth and sustainability, the inauguration ceremony involved the dignitaries watering the saplings, signifying the nurturing of knowledge and the sustainable development of the academic community.
Prof. P. Nagabushan, in his keynote address, emphasized the thumb rule of the National Education Policy (NEP) wherein the learning should be an experiential and continuous one and not just confined to the classroom teaching leading to scientific and holistic education system. Prof. Nagabushan further exemplified incorporating cutting-edge technologies, such as machine learning and biometrics into the assessment process of a student.
One of the significant moments during the inauguration ceremony was the official launch of the website of PACE CONCLAVE- The International Conference of Engineering Science and Technology (ICEST-2024) by the dignitaries. This marked a significant step towards fostering international collaboration in academia.
Dr. Ramis M K, Principal, P. A. College of Engineering, in his presidential address, highlighted the requirement of concurrency in the National Education Policy and State Education Policy to aim at a common goal of adequate knowledge transfer from the teacher to the learner. He also conveyed to the teachers on the significance of collaboration and branding oneself in terms of his/her expertise where Faculty Development Programs on trending topics can fulfil the same.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Prof. Ankitha. Prof. Fathimath Raihan from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering was the Master of Ceremony.
